My guests on today's show talk about being blind has not stopped this couple from living life. Dan and M both feel very strongly that blindness will not define them. Turnbull share how they want people to view them and how along the way they have had some “interference”.

Blindness:

Danial Turnbull was born going blind suffering from Retinitis pigmentosa (RP). RP is a group of rare, genetic disorders that involve a breakdown and loss of cells in the retina—which is the light sensitive tissue that lines the back of the eye. Common symptoms include difficulty seeing at night and a loss of side (peripheral) vision. RP is an inherited disorder.

Minh Turnbull was born blind. Minh states that all of her other sense are very keen. Minh came to the states from Vietnam. Minh does have two prosthetic eyes.

They both feel very strongly that blindness will not define them. They share how they want people to view them and how along the way they have had some “interference”. Dan shares how people are blind to what they don’t know.

The couple have recently become new parents and have been investigated by Oregon Department of Human Services. Hear what happened in regards to this case. The couple was also interviewed by KTVL News (story linked below). According to the couple 30% of people lose their child because of disability.
